The Fresno Chaffee Zoo is celebrating a second baby elephant just 10 days after another calf was born at the zoo.

Amahle, an African elephant, gave birth to a male calf early Monday morning.

Both mom and baby are doing fine and will continue to be monitored around-the-clock by the Zoo’s Animal and Veterinary teams.

“To have two healthy calves is a historic milestone and a huge testament to the great work of our animal care teams, our veterinary team, and the entire staff here at the zoo.” said CEO and Zoo Director Jon Forrest Dohlin.

We cannot wait for the public to see the new additions to our herd and share in our excitement.

Amahle and the new calf will continue to be monitored behind the scenes along with the Zoo’s first calf, born on August 16, and his mother Nolwalzi.

An official announcement of when the new additions to the zoo's elephant herd will be out on the savanna for the public to see will be announced on social media.

Congratulations!
