Judge in Daybell/Vallow case denies prosecutor's request to not allow cameras in courtroom
REXBURG, Idaho (CBS2) — Cameras in the courtroom and live streaming will continue in the Chad Daybell and Lori Vallow Daybell cases.
Madison County Prosecutor Rob Wood asked Magistrate Judge Faren Eddins to reconsider his order governing courtroom conduct and allowing cameras.
“Allowing broadcasting/live—streaming of the preliminary hearing will make it more difficult to pick an un-biased jury in Fremont County,” Wood wrote in a memo, according to KUTV. “Picking a jury in this case will be difficult and time consuming due to the already existing media coverage.”
On Monday, Judge Eddins ruled against Wood and determined that one television and one photography news outlet will be allowed to document.
"I'm denying the state's motion to reconsider my order governing courtroom conduct," said Eddins. "Things will proceed as outlined in my July 8, 2020 order governing courtroom conduct and the subsequent order."
Chad Daybell’s preliminary hearing will be on Aug 3 and 4, while Lori Vallow is schedule to a appear on Aug. 10.
