Fire at Elmore County dump now smoldering

Dispatchers told KBOI 2News that the fire off Simco Road started as a controlled burn, but at some point it got out of hand. A team was on hand most of the day on Tuesday.

KBOI 2News received a handful of calls from viewers worried that the fire was burning possibly toxic materials, however, the Department of Environmental Quality said that it's purely burning landfill waste.

The U.S. Ecology landfill is not affected.
