BOSTON (TND) — Could "Friends" fanatics and coffee lovers BE any more excited?!
Central Perk Coffeehouse, a coffee shop inspired by the popular sitcom, will be opening on Newbury Street in BostonTuesday morning.
Here's some news to brighten your day. The eagerly awaited Central Perk Coffeehouse is set to open its doors tomorrow, November 14th @ 7AM!" according to a social media post the coffee shop shared on Monday. The post included a photo of an oversized orange couch -- much like the one featured in the hit show. The words, "The one with..." were glowing in neon lights behind it, as the phrase was used in nearly episode title.
While several temporary pop-up locations opened in the area and beyond, the new coffee shop will mark the first permanent location.
"There are more locations coming on the horizon! Thanks for your patience and we hope to see you soon," the coffee shop noted online.
The menu features "a new collection of artisanal coffees roasted to order," as well as light fare, according to the coffee shop's website.
Fans can also purchase the coffee online, as well as order a variety of merchandise, including mugs.
The opening comes just a few weeks after Matthew Perry, who starred as Chandler Bing on the show, died suddenly on October 28. He was 54 years old.
Along with FRIENDS fans everywhere, we grieve the loss of Matthew Perry, sending our sincere condolences to his family and all who loved him," the coffee shop noted on Instagram in wake of Perry's passing. "When we do open our Boston location's doors in the coming weeks, we look forward to welcoming fans to sit on the orange couch and remember the laughter Chandler brought to us all."To honor Perry, the coffeehouse "will distribute the Chandler Bing 'Can I Interest You in a Sarcastic Comment' sleeve exclusively for the entire day, in honor of the life and enduring legacy of Matthew Perry," according to PEOPLE.
PEOPLE noted the coffeehouse is a 2,600-square-foot venue and a collaboration between Warner Bros. Themed Entertainment and CenPer.
It's not about creating a replica of it, it's really looking at what it would look like today,” Glen Coben, who is the founder and principal designer of Glen & Co Architecture, told PEOPLE. “It’s a modern interpretation of what a coffee shop or Central Perk would look like in 2024.”The coffee shop will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
"Friends" ran on NBC from 1994 to 2004.
Perry was found dead at his Los Angeles home, according to coroner's records. An investigation into how Perry died is ongoing, and it may take weeks before his cause of death is determined.
His body was discovered in a hot tub, said unnamed sources cited by TMZ, which was the first to report the news.
Perry's last Instagram post featured a photo of him in the hot tub.
Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I'm Mattman," he wrote on October 23.Initial test results indicate the actor's death was not caused by a fentanyl or meth overdose, according to TMZ. The media outlet cited law enforcement sources.
Investigators ran a less-in-depth test on Perry which revealed he did not have fentanyl or meth in his system," TMZ noted. "However, it's important to note, more in-depth tests are still being conducted as part of toxicology to analyze whether any other illegal drugs present in his blood -- and if the levels of any prescription meds were at harmful doses."Several high-profile guests reportedly attended Perry's funeral. Services were held for Perry at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles, a famous cemetery in California, according toTMZ.
Photos show his "Friends" co-stars, including Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer, at the funeral. The stars previously sent PEOPLE a joint statement about Perry's passing.
We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family," they noted in the statement. "There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss."In time we will say more, as and when we are able," the statement noted. "For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world."The message was signed by Aniston, Cox, Kudrow, LeBlanc and Schwimmer.
